This may be the last Associated Press video you see embedded from YouTube

A few days ago TechCrunch reported that the Associated Press threatened to sue one of their own affiliate radio stations (WTNQ) for embedding AP YouTube clips on their site. This isn’t the first time AP has failed to understand what the internet is. While particularly frustrating for networks like WTNQ, one part that caught my immediate interest was this quote from station manager Frank Strovel (on his Twitter page).

And we’re an A.P. affiliate for crying out loud! I stumped him on that one. . . . What is really shocking is that they were shocked that they’ve got a YouTube channel that people are embedding on their Websites. He seemed shocked by that. “Oh, I am going to have to look into that” is what he told me.

Well, YouTube’s still letting people like me and you embed official AP videos on other sites, but quite possibly for not much longer. Enjoy (perhaps) your last YouTube-AP-Embed goodness. – r.
