One of the more useful features of iLife ’09 is the ability to make slideshows in iPhoto to show your friends and family, accompanied by the music of your choice. Apple also includes five popular songs within the iPhoto application that you can choose to include with your slideshow. Here’s the thing – it’s surprisingly easy to copy these songs onto your desktop without any copy restrictions and at near iTunes Plus quality (192kbps). This makes it possible to add these songs to the media player of your choice.
You’ll be needing a Mac with iPhoto ’09 installed, and that’s about it.
Note: Don’t stress if some of the buttons and scroll bars look a little different. I’m using a theme for Mac OS X called iLeopard.
First up, open iPhoto, select a few photos from your library and click ‘Slideshow’ from the + button located in the bottom left corner of the window. Then choose Slideshow and give it a name (shown above). Click ‘Create’.
Click on the iTunes icon titled ‘Music’ in iPhoto to open up the window shown above. From there, it’s as simple as dragging the tracks from that window to your desktop or folder. You can even drag directly from the music options window to iTunes, complete with song name and artist information.
