17-inch MacBook Pro update: More details released

9to5mac has some more information on the anticipated 17-inch MacBook Pro update, expected (obviously) to be announced and released at Macworld 2009. Apple updated the MacBook and MacBook Pro in October 2008, keeping the 13-inch white MacBook and 17-inch MacBook Pro.

According to the Apple news and rumors site, the MacBook Pro will feature a new, “longer lasting” battery that is not able to be removed manually, the details of which are still in some question. Additionally, they report that Apple will no longer offer a matte screen option for the popular notebook.

Finally, 9to5 also claims to have heard that the “White MacBook” mentioned above will be phased out after Macworld, and price cuts are expected for the unibody aluminum design model. While this comes as no surprise to those following Apple, it is worth mentioning as the reliability of the source is said to be solid. – r.
