Telstra is charging ridiculous prices for pay-as-you-go data

Have a Telstra Corporate Account? Interested in a pay-as-you-go, non-iPhone data plan? Don’t be. According to a Telstra Corporate Plan representative, mobile data users with a corporate account who do not pay for a data package pay 77c per KILOBYTE downloaded. Not 77c per megabyte, per kilobyte.

Let’s do the math:

$947 for an unlocked, prepay iPhone with Telstra.

$0 for a Corporate Plan SIM (You have to be employed by a large business, of course)

$878.48 per MB downloaded.

= $8,831.08 for an iPhone 3G and 10 MB of data.

And you thought the plans sucked.

– r.
